If you’re planning a DC wedding and love venues with a little history and a lot of charm, let me introduce you to one of my favorites: the Mayflower Hotel. There are a few venues in DC that just feel iconic and Mayflower Hotel weddings are exactly that. If you’re dreaming of a celebration that feels grand, timeless, and full of history (in the best way), this venue delivers on all fronts. I’ve had the joy of planning weddings at the Mayflower, and every time I walk through the doors, I’m reminded why it’s such a DC classic. Here are just a few of my favorite things about this beautiful space:

The Mayflower is a historic landmark for a reason. It’s been hosting grand events since 1925 and brings that rich, old-school DC charm you just can’t fake. There’s something about the chandeliers, the architecture, and the overall feel of the space that gives your wedding day a real sense of place. It’s elegant without being over-the-top which is a tough balance to strike.
If you want your wedding photos to age beautifully, this is your venue. The Mayflower has that timeless, classic style that pairs well with any wedding aesthetic whether you’re leaning formal and black-tie or going for something softer and romantic. The ballrooms, staircases, and entryways are full of character and look stunning in every season.

When it comes to DC wedding venues, the Mayflower’s location is hard to top. It’s right downtown and close to everything which makes it super convenient for guests flying in or staying nearby. Whether you’re planning welcome drinks, rehearsal dinners, or brunch the next morning, you’re surrounded by amazing options. And from a logistics perspective it keeps everything smooth and walkable.
One of my absolute favorite photo spots in the city is right inside the Mayflower—the hallway with the black-and-white checkered floor. It’s bold, it’s dramatic, and it makes the perfect backdrop for portraits with your bridal party. It’s the kind of spot that feels luxurious but fun at the same time (and it looks amazing in both color and black and white photos!).
If you’re planning a Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, the Mayflower is a perfect pairing. It’s just a short walk away, which makes coordinating transportation (or even just a sweet walk through downtown) super easy. Logistically, it’s a dream and it also gives you two classic DC locations in one day.

Mayflower Hotel weddings are timeless and so full of history. It’s classic DC in all the best ways with gorgeous interiors and a downtown location that makes wedding weekend logistics a breeze. If you’re looking for a venue that reflects the charm and tradition of DC while still giving you room to make it your own, this one’s worth adding to your list! Thinking the Mayflower might be the one? I’d love to hear all about your plans and help make them happen. Inquire and let’s get started!
